Autoboyography by Cristina Lauren is one of the best books I've read recently. I picked up this book from Powell's Books in Portland, OR and I read about 1/4 of it before I got too busy with school to continue. But since I picked it up again in 2019, I've re-read it at least two times. I find it that good. The story of Tanner and Sebastian is enthralling and full of twists and turns as the two boys have to deal with barriers such as family and religion while coming to turns with their sexuality and overall life. The story follows Tanner, a senior in high school and a closeted bisexual boy since he and his family moved to the extremely Mormon town of Provo, Utah for his mother's job. His best friend Autumn tells him to take the coveted seminar class in the last semester of school, and he accepts, because how hard could writing a book in a semester be? Turns out it was a lot more difficult for him than he first thought, as on the first day he meets the TA and graduate of that class, Sebastian. He published the book he wrote for that class and is volunteering there before he goes on his book tour and then his mission. Many of the girls find the older male attractive, and as hard as Tanner tries to ignore it, he starts falling for the preacher's son as well. Now, this is a very unique topic that I haven't seen before in my years of reading so I'm already giving it points there. The characters themselves are so realistic and alive (obviously not really since they're book characters) by the way that Lauren describes their emotions and mannerisms when interacting with others and by themselves. The author really delved into religion and how much it could impact a person's life, with Mormons being all over the place in the book. I'm not one to talk about religion but after reading the book, I did some research to see if her facts were legit, and she definitely did her research. All of her facts seemed to be either exact or close with some creative liberties thrown in. But that's okay. I really enjoyed it besides whatever facts were wrong or right. I can't really say much more without spoiling much of the touching moment so I think I'm gonna end this second edition of Coffee Descant Book Reviews here. Have you guys read the book?
